Questa bellissima casa è il "Buen Retiro" a Trancoso, Bahia, piccolo angolo di paradiso, con splendide spiagge ed edifici pittoreschi immersi nella vegetazione, del fotografo brasiliano Fernando Lombardi e di sua moglie.
A poca distanza dalla piazza principale l'edificio è stato ristrutturato inseguendo un ideale di "bellezza imperfetta" e cercando di interpretare l'identità locale.
Tetto, pavimenti, porte, sono tutti elementi di recupero, provenienti da edifici o manufatti locali, come anche locali sono le maestranze che hanno realizzato il progetto, guidate dai committenti ma libere di esprimere la loro sensibilità.
La casa è stata poi arredata con mobili ed oggetti della tradizione popolare brasiliana e memorabilia provenienti dai viaggi compiuti dalla coppia, senza eliminarne i segni del tempo, ma anzi conservando ruggine, corrosione ed irregolarità, elementi questi non visti come difetti ma come qualità acquisite e da preservare.
Fantastico infine l'uso del colore per le pareti interne, che richiamando quelli delle facciate di Trancoso, creano continuità tra interno ed esterni.

Imperfect beauty
This beautiful home is the "Buen Retiro" in Trancoso, Bahia (a small corner of paradise, with beautiful beaches and quaint buildings surrounded by vegetation) of the Brazilian photographer Fernando Lombardi and his wife.
A short distance from the main square, the building was renovated in pursuit of an ideal of "imperfect beauty" and trying to interpret the local identity.
Roof, floors, doors, are all elements of recovery, from buildings or local artifacts, as well as local are the workers who built the project, led by principals but free to express their feelings.
The house was then furnished with furniture and objects of traditional Brazilian folk and memorabilia from trips made by the couple, without erasing the signs of aging, but rather keeping rust, corrosion and irregularities, not seen as flaws but quality acquired.
Great, finally, the use of color for interior walls, recalling those of the facades of Trancoso, create continuity between the interior and exterior.
